Construction and Development
$5 Billion Investment
Stellantis and LG have partnered and selected Windsor for their new EV battery plant. This joint venture will see a total investment of over $5 billion CAD put into a facility to manufacture the batteries. These batteries will supply Stellantis plants not only in Canada but through North America. The site is located on almost 220 acres in the Windsor-Tecumseh area, near the old CS Wind plant, near Lauzon Road and E.C. Row Expressway. It’s designed to occupy 4.5 million square feet of space, or approximately 112 NHL-sized hockey rinks, and bring 2,500 well paying jobs to the region.
Amazon Is Coming to Windsor
E-commerce giant Amazon has purchased land in Windsor to build its first fulfillment centre in the area. The new Amazon warehouse is expected to be roughly 200,000 square feet and bring 300 new jobs to the area. Construction on the project is scheduled to get underway in May. The facility will be located on the western end of the business park close to Central Avenue and borders the CNR and CPR railyard that runs parallel to E.C. Row Expressway and was the former site of Chryler’s Truck Assembly Plant.Amazon has reportedly purchased 27.24 acres in the Grand Central Business Park.
